How does the new feature Delete Synchronization From Position Assignment Record actually work?

I tested in the demo environment that it works but the question is, if we have our Sync Position process running every day and we delete one of the Synchronization From Position assignment records created, would this same record not be re-created the next day when there is again a mismatch between the assignment and position values? Any input is much appreciated.
