Journey Reminder Notifications Sent to Inactive Employee After Termination

Summary:

I have a New Hire Onboarding Journey configured with reminder notifications that are scheduled to send beginning 7 days after the journey is assigned, for a total of four reminder notifications.

I encountered an issue with one employee:

  • Hire Date: 07/06/2026
  • Termination Date: 07/13/2026
  • Reminder Notification Received: 07/27/2026

Although the employee was terminated and is inactive in the system, they still received a journey reminder notification after their termination date.

Is this expected behavior for Oracle Journeys? If so, is there a configuration or best practice to prevent reminder notifications from being sent to inactive or terminated employees? Ideally, I would like reminder notifications to stop automatically once an employee is no longer active.
