Asset Transfer Error – Serial Number Uniqueness Check (INV-2416346)

Summary:
Has anyone encountered the following error when transferring an asset to a different Organization?
“The serial number uniqueness check couldn't be completed. Submit the transaction again with different serial numbers. (INV-2416346)”
We encountered this issue today while attempting to transfer an asset to another Organization. We have not seen this error previously.
As a workaround, we had to add a “.” to the end of the asset’s existing serial number in order to complete the transfer and update the asset location. However, we should not need to modify an asset’s serial number simply to transfer it between Organizations. The serial number has always been associated with this asset and should remain unchanged.
