URGENT: Always Free automated termination, instance and boot volume disappeared; need data recovery

My Ubuntu server in Oracle Cloud was running normally earlier today, August 18, 2026, and then became unreachable.

Oracle had previously sent me an email titled “Action Required: OCI Always Free Update” stating that beginning August 18, compute instances exceeding the updated Always Free limits would be automatically terminated.

The notification described termination of the compute instance. It did not state that the associated boot volume or customer data would also be permanently deleted.

After the server became unreachable, I logged into Oracle Cloud and found that the compute instance was no longer visible.

I have since checked both the Oracle Cloud Console and Cloud Shell Resource Search. In
