Item Attachments and Item Revision Attachments

in Product Master Data Management

Summary: In Redwood Product Management what is the difference between Item Attachments and Item Revision Attachments. I tried adding attachment to both the options and also updated the attachment version as per the item revision changes, still all the versions of attachments at both the places are visible everywhere - old revision and new revisions.

Are there any best practice to follow for item revisions
