Trigger a Plugin for Background Validation Without Opening a Separate Page

We want to trigger a plugin to run validations in the background, without it opening as a separate page/screen and without navigating the user out of the Field Service instance.

Currently, plugins seem to open in their own screen/tab, which takes the user away from their current context just to run a validation.

Is there a way to configure a plugin to run silently in the background (e.g. on a button click or action) and just return a validation result, without redirecting to a separate page? If not currently supported, can this be considered as an enhancement?
