downloading data from a boot volume

I just logged into the console and my instance is gone. Apparently, they performed maintenance, migrated it, and it disappeared. Only the boot volume remains. I urgently need a temporary instance to download my data, or please restore my original instance. No, I can't just create another instance; I need to download the folders that were on my virtual machine.
