canceling workrealtionship in core hr results in benefits error

Summary: when the customer tries to cancel the new hire or changes in the start date of the Workrelationship it does generate an error that there is already benefits enrollment.
it requires benefits administrator to backout all the historical or current enrollments or void them. so that the HR can process the Cancelling of WR or change the start date.
is there a way that we can avoid manual intervention and streamline this process without Benefits Office involvement? or any workaround to avoid manual intervention. please suggest.
