OAuth/JWT for BI Publisher web services before Basic Auth retirement

Summary:

We call Fusion BI Publisher web services from OIC Gen3: /xmlpserver/services/v2/SecurityService (login), then the ReportService, ScheduleService and CatalogService InSession operations with the bipSessionToken. Today this works only with a username and password; we haven't found any OAuth or JWT option for these services (KB33531).

With Basic Authentication reportedly being retired in March 2027:

  • Will BIP web services, including SecurityService login, stop working once Basic Auth is retired?
  • Is OAuth/JWT support planned for BIP web services, and in which release?

If not, what is Oracle's recommended alternative for running BIP reports programmatically?
