Using the seeded “Payroll” journal source for third-party payroll journal import into GL

We are implementing Oracle Fusion Cloud General Ledger. We plan to load payroll journals from a third-party payroll system (Workday) directly into GL. The integration uses the standard GL interface (Journal Import FBDI / GL_INTERFACE) and the Import Journals process. It does not go through Accounting Hub or Fusion Payroll.

Fusion Payroll is not enabled in our environment. Can we use the Oracle seeded journal source “Payroll” for these journals, or are there restrictions or side effects that make a custom journal source the better choice? Any guidance or My Oracle Support note references would be appreciated.
