Workforce Compensation: How can we store more market percentiles value for Grade Range?

in Compensation 1 comment

Dear all,

Our client wants to compare employee salaries directly against external market percentiles (P10 / P25 / P50 / P75 / P90) rather than the standard Oracle range position during the Workforce Compensation cycle

Background

  • Oracle's range position is calculated as (Salary − Min) ÷ (Max − Min) × 100%, and compa-ratio as Salary ÷ Mid.
  • The client already holds external market figures for P10, P25, P50, P75 and P90 and wants to see which percentile band each employee falls into.

Questions

  1. Can a Grade Rate (or Grade Rate values) store more than Min / Mid / Max, for example two additional values, or is 3 the hard limit?
  2. Is a User-Defined Table the recommended approach for this, or is there a better practice (e.g. a DFF on the grade rate, or another object)?

Howdy, Stranger!
