9i on 64-bit server and the OLDB problem

 I understand that running 9i on a 64-bit server does not support Oracle OLEDB Provider but I can not get any detail on the problem. That is to say:

Is OLEDB client not supporting access from the 64-bit server's db out to other  32-bit db's 

-OR-  Is it that other clients running 32-bit cannot access the 9i db on the 64-bit server.

-OR- Is it both.
