Parallel Approval and First Responnder Wins for AME 11.5.10

Has anyone been successful in extending the AME workflows (reqapprv, apinv) in 11.5.10 AME.B to leverage the more advanced workflow approval features offered in R12?  These advanced approval types appear available via the AME GUI but result in error if used.
