What are all the moving pieces of ODAC and what needs to be installed where?

 I am doing research on  ODAC because I am about to install a non-oracle web application that requires ODAC to talk to the oracle database. I'm trying to figure out if ODAC is a client piece of software or a server side or perhaps both, so, my questions are: What are the different pieces of ODAC (I've noticed that .NET and ODBC are mentioned a lot)? And, where do the different pieces of ODAC reside, client or server? Thanks in advance for your help.
