Service Tax - Purpose of the Settlement Details Payments Form

 Hello,

Why is it necessary to 'Process Payment' in the form Settlement Details?  What does this form do?  What is it used for?  What are the consequences for not updating the Paid invoices to 'Payment Processed'?

We have not done it and have seen no adverse effects on Service Tax settlement.
