Item Classification Template Modification

Hi

Can the Item template be modified after the items are assign to it ?

We have one template created for excise classification. Below are the attributes.

Tradable - No
ITEM CLASS - Finished Goods India
MODVATABLE - Yes
EXCISABLE - Yes

The items are assigned to the above template.

Now business want to capture the ITEM TARIFF. We tried to modify the template and tried to add ITEM TARIFF in addition to above.

System do not allow me to add the ITEM TARIFF. Is this standard functionality ? Is there any way to modify existing template?
