DSEE 6.3.1 naming service case sensitiviness

On my DSEE 6.3.1 naming service server I am having a strange issue that appears to be related to case sensitivity. When a user is provisioned with an upper case in the uid for example uid=User1 and a netgroup triple with lower case nisNetgroupTriple: (,user1,) the user fails authentication. When I match the cases authentication works. Is there a setting that enforces case sensitivity? Thanks for your help.
