Error configuring OIM 11g Design Console on Separate windows machine

I have installed OIM 11g on a linux server.  I can login to the managed server from a browser on my windows machine.  I followed the steps to install Design Console on my windows machine.  When I start the configuration program and fill in the OIM Server Hostname and OIM Server Port I get this error:  INST-07057: Error in validating the Hostname field value.  Entered host is not up and running.

Since I can login to that server at the specified host and port name from the same machine I don't know what the problem is.

All help appreciated.
