how can i calculate the best value for "file descriptor"?

Hi all, IHAC with the following error:  Dec 12 03:15:29 nsjc8res01 named[677]: [ID 873579 daemon.error] socket: too many open file descriptors

System is Solaris8 and /etc/system has configured these parameters:
set rlim_fd_max=8192
set rlim_fd_cur=8192

My question is, how can i choose the best value for these parameters to eliminate this error?
