LDAP as naming services

 Hi,
I'm using Directory server as naming server , root user in files and several users only in ldap (for several years). I've been told that each ldap user needs correspondence in files, is that true ? I wasn't able to find a clear statement regarding this in documentation. The only note I've found is that I can use ldapaddent tool to populate ldap containers with information from files.
