Supporting Oracle Client, ODAC, and ODBC Installs on 32- and 64-bit Windows

I am seeking input on our client install issues and to vent some frustration.  We are transitioning some of our user's computers to Windows 7 and we will have a mix of 32-bit and 64-bit Windows systems.  Our developers are starting to use Visual Studio 2010 and .Net Frameworks 4.0 so we rely on the Oracle Developer Tools (ODT) as well as continued reliance on good old ODBC. 

 

My first thought was to install the latest 32-bit version of ODAC 11.2.0.2.1 on both the 32-bit and 64-bit workstations.  This allows us to support existing 32-bit applications (no we can't upgrade them all yet) with the latest ODP.Net and its support for .Net Frameworks 4.0.  This version of ODAC also comes with the 32-bit ODBC drivers.
