Tech Update - Oracle Modifies Business Objects Enterprise and Crystal Reports Licensing for PeopleSo

With the changes in reporting technology and the announcement last year that no licenses will be provided to new customers for Crystal Reports or Business Objects Enterprise (BOE), there will be changes made to the DSS demo environments with SV3, targeted for Feb 15.

Crystal Reports and BOE will no longer be available in demo environments.   Any reporting demos should now use BI Publisher (formerly known as XML Publisher), which is provided with PeopleTools.  While no existing run controls will be removed, they will fail if used.

While customers may continue to use the Crystal/BOE license that they were granted with PeopleTools prior to June 1, 2011, BIP is now the strategic reporting option for PeopleSoft.  In current PS application releases, all critical Crystal application reports have been converted or re-written as BIP reports, and BIP will need to be used in all demos from now on.
