Upgrading vs. New Installation

 I'm running 10gAS and OID and will need to upgrade it to 11g soon.  I've just scratched the surface on all the upgrade docs available and it already sounds like it's a cumbersome process.  I'm seriously considering scrapping 10g completely and doing a fresh installation of 11g FMW / Identity Management.  Any thoughts?
