Identity Manager 11g and SOA on the same server

We are getting getting ready to install Identity and Access Manager 11.1.1.1.2 and then upgrade to 11.1.1.1.5. We have already installed JRockit, WebLogic 10.3.5 and JDeveloper on the OIM server. But we have questions about SOA. We already have the SOA suite installed on another server connecting to a SOA database on yet another server. Is it necessary to install SOA again on the same server as OIM and ASM?

Everything in the documentation seems to indicate SOA must reside on the OIM server but we already spent 6 months getting SOA configured on another server to message between our Peoplesoft environments and legacy systems.
