XML Check template delivered in Landscape Mode

Why is the XML check for Accts Payable delivered as a landscaped check when the crystal check is delivered as Portrait?  How can I change the XML template without the defined objects running off the page?  The process definition for the AP XML check has the same parameters appended to it as the crystal check which includes -ORIENTP (translates to Portrait).
