pre_search/post_search plugin in OID

Hi !
Is it correct that with pre_search I can operate with users which are not presented in OID (some kind of virtual users which not synced from AD for eaxmple) and such users will be able to be authenticated using OAS SSSO also?
In other words if I can't connect to some source ldap catalog than I should implement appropriate logic in my pre_search/post_search plugin.
Also if I need to give users to be able to authenticate in SSO as with cn as with email (in other words with or without @usersdomain) this plugins exactly what we need to use.
