Workflow notifications from 2006 still showing up in all notifications eventhough the status is CLOS

Hi,

Here is the situation.

Expense reports were created back in 2006 and was approved by the manager after he got a notification.

The main workflow got closed (assuming) and the child workflow got purged.
The user who raised the expense report is still getting the notification once everyday since 2006 and he reported this about 2 days ago.

There is no data in the WF_ITEM_ACTIVITY_STATUSES for the workflow item key but we have the data in the WF_NOTIFICATIONS.
The status is CLOSED and the mail status is NULL.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
