ESSO upgrade from vGo 5.04

Years ago we installed the Passlogix vGo product into our Active Directory and have been using it on Windows XP machines.  We never upgraded past v5.04, but have kept our service contract updated so that we could eventually update. I am now in the process of upgrading to the latest release from Oracle.
Due to the length of time there are questions around what process needs to be followed to make this happen.  I could use any comments on the following assumptions and any recommendations that anyone has regarding how to get to the latest release.

1.I have set up a lab with a AD that was duplicated from production so it would contain the schema.
