Imported Journals do not get EDIT processed

I'm having an issue with the journals not going through the EDIT process after they are imported using the spreadsheet.  Under an earlier version the journals are imported and something triggers the EDIT process against the journals.  With a new version that we have that required a change in the authentication routines; the journals load but the EDIT process is no longer being triggered.  Does anyone have any idea why this is occurring and where I might look to find out why it is not triggering?
