AP_MATCH - performance issues

Has anyone encountered an issue with AP_MATCH where the step AP_DAM_ALG.VPREXCT.6SQL68 runs several hours? 

Background:

We run AP_MATCH 3 times a day (early morning, noon, and 5:00 PM).  We have seen the problem occur at the noon and 5:00 PM runtime.   We have four occurences within the last 30 runs where it took 4, 7, 3, and 6 hours to run.  All other occasions take just a few minutes.  Also, we recently upgraded from 8.8 to 9.1.  This started occuring about 20 days after the upgrade.

Any suggestions.
