MICR FONT for Crystal Checks

For crystal check reports, where should the MICR font be stored? Is this on the users workstation who is running the pay cycle, or printer where the checks are being printed, or can be it stored on the server. If server, what location. We are not using a DIM chip. We are on 9.1 AP and people tools 8.52.
