Diff 11i and R12 for Outbound Email Account (SMTP)

Hello,

EBS 11i:

EDIT Workflow Manager : Basic Configuration

    Outbound Email Account (SMTP):

           --> Just server name to set.

EBS R12:

EDIT Workflow Manager : Basic Configuration

    Outbound Email Account (SMTP):

           --> Server name to set and also a username/password.

Could you explain why the difference between 11i and R12? New username recipient of the emails sent by all the WFs?
