10g WebGates and Apache 2.4

I know that there isn't a WebGate for Apache 2.4, but was wondering if anyone has attempted and succeeded in getting an Apache 2.2 Webgate to work with Apache 2.4?  I'm being pushed by Management to see if this can be done -- they don't want to go to OHS, but want to upgrade from Apache 2.2 to 2.4.  I don't make the decisions -- I just work here.

Where I'm seeing the problem is after Apache's httpd.conf is modified with all of the WebGate statements, I attempt to start Apache 2.4 and get the following message:

"httpd:  Syntax error on line xxx of /opt/apache24/conf/httpd.conf:  Cannot load /opt/webgate/access/oblix/apps/webgate/bin/webgatessl.so into server:  /opt/webgate/access/oblix/apps/webgtate/bin/webgatessl.so: undefined symbol: ap_log_rerror."
