Scaling and Truck Splitting Functionality in RETAIL

Hi,
Oracle Retail Merchandising system offers Scaling and Truck Splitting functionality for POs. But before going to present these functionality as per the ORMS in front of client, need to understand these functionality as per the standard retail process.
I would like to know these functionality in detail in Layman's language with examples.
