How to troubleshoot an unusual difference between a notification's Begin_date and End_date

Most of our notifications of Message_type GMSWF, Message_name MSG_BUDGET_IS_BASELINED_NTFY have a minimal difference between them of a few minutes.  But we just had one with a 5 hour gap in between.  How can we go about troubleshooting what caused this issue?
