Advanced Collections 11i vs. Advanced Collections R12

We are currently on version 11i and have not yet deployed Advanced Collections. Our R12 upgrade project has just started with possible implementation in September 2013. Does anyone see an advantage to early implementation  of Advanced Collections in 11i and upgrade to the R12 version or would just be better in implement in R12.  I am concerned about the learning curve either way.  The R12 version is quite different I understand.  Does anyone have any feed back?
