[ID 1465172.1] - Update Gateway Decommision

Don't know how many people have noticed this( ID 1465172.1), but it's gotten quite the response in the Higher Ed communitiy.

With the upcoming changes to My Oracle Support, Oracle is also doing the following:

  • Moving Peoplesoft patches from the old system into My oracle Support Patches and Updates tab.
  • Discontinuing use of the Change assistant updategateway.

This means you will no longer have the functionality of uploading your environment through change assistant and having it download the patches for you. You must go through MOS to download bundles manually and research and aquire the proper pre-requisuites as well.

This is pretty frustrating to see Oracle disable functionality that so many customers rely on before introducing the next whizbang product they have announced to handle these features, PeopleSoft Update Manager. Why not just wait to phase this out once that is released? Quite frustrating.
