How To Capture Workflow Errors

Isn't there documentation on the best method to use in a workflow to capture workflow errors so we can implement error routines?  I thought there used to be a documetn but now that I want to utilize it I can't find it.  We're running EBS 12.1.3 and I'd just like to catch some of these errors to be more efficient.
