Issue:

Installed Solaris 10 U 10 using cdrom/pxe on NetApp iSCSI LUN of 30 Gb. Applied our local network driver updates during installation, the installation completes successfully on the iSCSI disk. But after reboot the server (Solaris 10U10 host) fails to come up with error message “Error 3: Bad or corrupt data while decompressing the file” after the GRUB splash screen.

Workarounds tried:

Connected this iSCSI disk as an additional storage to a Solaris(10U10) host, mounted the partition and replaced the x86-miniroot-safe and boot_archive files with a working x86-miniroot-safe and boot_archive files of the current host(which has network drivers installed).Rebooted the host, still after reboot we are seeing the same error.

Howdy, Stranger!
