Matrix nVision reports slow performance in PeopleTools 8.52 with Excel 2007/2010

We are upgrading from tools 8.50.13 Excel 2003 to tools 8.52.09 Excel 2007/2010.  nVision tabular reports run in about the same time or faster than our current production(8.50).  nVision matrix reports in 8.52 Excel 2007/2010 run significantly slower than production.  The matrix reports do run faster in Excel 2007 than in Excel 2010 but still are taking 2 to 3 times longer than production.  I have an open SR on this but thought I would post the question here also, does anyone have any suggestions on how to speed up our matrix reports in tools 8.52?  All of our matrix layouts have macros.
