OID synch issues

We use OID as the sso source for our EBS apps. The OID is in sync with the AD which is our primary source for user information. Every now and then we see issues related to user synchs. One of the observarions is that the emailid of the user in OID becomes blank (null) and we need to manually update their email id in OID in order for any user actions in EBS. Any idea for the cause of this?
