How to implement return to search results functionality

we have customized the page Workforce admin -> self service transactions -> Approvals and delegation -> Administer Approval and added one hyper link view details.

User will enter some details and click on the search will will yield few results. So clicking on view details hyperlink on of the transactions/ rows(search results) will take him to new page.

So after doing some work he wanted to return back to search results.( previous page with the search results).

I wanted to add hyperlink return on the view details page.But this page is in different component.I know using transferpage() or any of the functions will not hold the component variables or data
