Is OVD required for OIM to communicate via LDAP with OID?
The OFM User's Guide for OIM 11.1.1 seems to be saying that if you want to configure OIM to communicate user and role adds/changes via LDAP to OID, that you must use OVD as a "go between". Here is the link to the section of the documentation that seems to state this as fact:
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/doc.1111/e14316/dployconfig.htm#CEGGEGID
Here is the quote from that section of the OIM User's Guide:
"4.3.1 Configuring the Integration with LDAP
Configuring the integration between Oracle Identity Manager and LDAP is performed while installing Oracle Identity Manager. You can choose to install Oracle Identity Manager with or without LDAP. If you install Oracle Identity Manager with LDAP, then you must install OVD and Oracle Internet Directory, create a container to store reserved users, create a new user in Oracle Identity Manager to perform Oracle Identity Manager operations, and configure OVD and Oracle Internet Directory for Oracle Identity Manager."
