Syntax for adding new optional attributes to orclIDXPerson objectClass via LDIF

LDIF script is the only authorized format for submitting OID schema changes for promotion to acceptance and production environments. The reason is this is a military site with extremely strict access rules where developers are simply not granted administrative access to server software. I think if I were allowed to make schema changes via ODSM, it would be fairly easy, but I do not have that kind of access.
I need to add some UDFs to my OIM users (11.1.1.5). Documentation says that if I want these UDFs to be pushed out to my OID users, I must add all of them to the orclIDXPerson objectClass in my OID. The OID documentation is very confusing about the case of modifying existing objectClasses. In some places is says that modify command cannot be applied to an objectClass that already has entries associated with it, and that instead you should delete the objectClass first, then add it back with the additional attributes. Other places in the documentation seem to say that
