Understanding PeopleSoft Performance monitor (PPM) data

I implemented PPM on my peoplesoft HRMS 9.0 MP4 / PT 8.49.11 environment. Although I have read the entire red paper on PPM, i am still unable to understand the PMU data. The PMU shows a huge amount of data and I am unable to come to a conclusion as to where the actual issue lies. I will explain with the help of an example. Please see the attached screenshot for more details.
Now I am trying to find out why signing into peoplesoft takes a long time. I searched for PMU ID 100 - Portal Request and selected a tree that was related to HOMEPAGE. Then I checked which "GetContent" took the highest time and tried to troubleshoot if there is an issue or not.
