Java update of the JRE Installed In PS_HOME

With the latest Java SE critical patch update advisory being published, this has lead me to look at upgrading JRE within the $PS_HOME (app & batch) in particular on Windows 2008 R2, with multiple ps_homes.

Is it supported to update the default jre within the PeopleSoft home?

Can anyone supply details how to perform this task?
