Net Express Wrap Pack versions

I am upgrading from PeopleTools 8.50 to 8.53.  I currently have only one license for the Net Express compiler and have version 5.1 installed.  PeopleTools 8.53 requires Net Express 5.1 WP 6.  If I upgrade to wrap pack 6, will it still work on my current tools 8.50?

Also, is an upgrade to wrap pack 6 an upgrade or is it a re-install requiring a license revokation and a new license? I've never dealt with wrap packs before.
