Workflow 8.49 upgrading to 8.53 in the near term

 We are currently running 8.49 PTools and 9.0 FSCM.   We are about to create some custom workflows in PTools 8.49 to meet a business need
The concern is that we are going to upgrade to PTools 8.53 in the next Year.   Anyone have an idea what the impact will be on our Workflow objects if we only
upgrade PTools from 8.49 to 8.53, but we remain on 9.0 FSCM?

Should it be a smooth transition via the 8.53 Tools upgrade since are using delivered 8.49 workflow.   or will we have to totally redevelop each Workflow object from scratch in 8.53?
