Basic Authentication and REST Service Operations in 8.52/8.53

I have a question concerning how Basic Authentication works with REST Service Operations in 8.52/8.53.  In Tools releases prior to 8.52, IB was never able to tie Basic Authentication credentials to a user in a PeopleSoft application.  This document describes the details of how to configure this type of Basic Authentication:

In 8.52 and higher, does the option of "Basic Authentication" on a REST Service Operation tie these credentials to an actual PeopleSoft user?
