Workflow Activity Guide

Hi there,
 I am looking into Workflow Activity Guide at the moment and I have some questions regarding this.

I think I understand how to setup an Activity Guide.
It's basically adding Activity Guide sub pages to the pages that I'd like to be part of the Activity Guide Workflow.
Also I would need to create an activity and link the steps/pages in required order.

But I don't understand how to create a custom link. The PeopleBooks is not helpful in this :-(

Your help would be much appreciated.
